It’s clear that Jobie Bakama from Callback Dreams enjoys his job as a visual storyteller through movies. So much so that he was called on to share his experiences at the Ugandan Film Festival towards the end of last year.
“The theme of the panel discussion was “Film Business Essentials for Getting your Film into the Global Market” aimed at young filmmakers. Everyone agreed that nowadays there are multiple channels for showcasing content and if the big screen isn’t an option, there’s always YouTube,” said Bakama.
Another panellist commented, “Even without a big budget there are other creative ways to market a film such as product placement which can contribute to the marketing budget. Filmmakers should also utilise things like teasers and trailers because they are also ways of marketing the film.”
Callback Dreams regularly works on projects in the rest of Africa and the business is going from strength to strength!
