Get ready for the refreshed Nedbank Business Ignite platform which gives business owners and entrepreneurs the opportunity to access new opportunities.
For six years 702 and CapeTalk have been sharing the stories of established entrepreneurs as part of the Nedbank Business Accelerator.
In 2019, the Nedbank Business Accelerator was reborn as “NEDBANK BUSINESS IGNITE with 702 / CapeTalk”.
Driven by a new presenter and incubation expert, Tshepo Phakathi, who will be the face of the show on radio. Two winners will receive a year-long incubation programme valued at R100 000 and media coverage to the value of R200 000 on 702 and Cape Talk.
Nedbank wants to encourage businesses to carve out new markets, grow them and contribute to boosting the economy with a year-long incubation program valued at R100 000 to the winner.
Business Ignite runs from 3 June to January 2020.
In the first week of the sponsorship, businesses will be invited to enter. Thereafter, 15 businesses in Johannesburg and 10 in Cape Town will be profiled on radio. The profiling will culminate in two events, where a panel of judges will announce one winner per province. Regular on-air check ins will take place with the winners to access the progress on the incubation programme.
Entrants can take part in four categories:
- Businesses below R 5 million annual turnover
- Businesses between R 5 million and R 10 million
- Businesses between R 10 million and R 20 million annual turnover
- Businesses over R 20 million
Alan Shannon, Head of Relationship Banking Sales says Nedbank is proud to be part of this initiative because unlocking the SME sector potential is key to economic growth and job creation in South Africa. “In line with our philosophy, is to use our financial expertise to create a vibrant ecosystem and provide a rich set of development and support services that will enable businesses to grow. Whether in the early stages of running a business or embarking on a growth trajectory, entrepreneurs need the right banking partner, and Nedbank is focused on meeting all their business needs,” says Shannon.
The way in which Nedbank Business Ignite will be rolled out is also refreshed to provide an even more valuable platform for businesses to grow. This includes a longer entry period and the eligible business categories are slightly shifted to give more businesses the opportunity to enter and be empowered.
