Nunnovation Africa Foundation is an on-campus business which seeks to create and showcase good news stories from the African continent. The organisation has always sought to create projects that have an innovative solution to African youth issues. It achieves this through various partnerships in the private sector who are looking to fulfil CSI projects that are highly impactful and sustainable long-term.
The team from Nunnovation will host a breakaway session in parallel with the main FundEX programme entitled ‘An African perspective on social entrepreneurship’ which is bound to offer help to social entrepreneurs seeking funding for their ventures.
When asked what the main message to be conveyed would be, the Nunnovation team said, “The enterprise should be a worthwhile cause for people who otherwise would not be able to access such opportunities. However, keep in mind that you still need to function as a business while actively creating social, cultural and environmental solutions. Entrepreneurs who are passionate about changing the world are bound to resonate with this session.”
Nunnovation sees social enterprise as one that uses commercial strategies to maximise long-term improvements in people’s lives. Obstacles the organisation has faced in its own funding journey relate to finding alignment between Nunnovation projects and the funder’s vision.
“Fundable projects are innovative and sustainable while changing the course of individuals’ lives,” the team remarked.
