Powerhouse lawyer Yolelwa Sikunyana has a passion for sharing her considerable knowledge with entrepreneurs who often need legal knowledge to run their businesses smoothly. When absa Durban approached her to develop a programme designed for small business owners, she jumped at the opportunity and conducted three two-day legal workshops in Durban during the past month.
“I designed the programme to clarify the most pressing legal issues for any small business. On day 1, I give an overview of governance, contracts and the consumer protection act. The following day, I run a legal clinic to allow individual entrepreneurs to come to me with questions. Handling debt collection is the most frequently-heard query in those one-on-ones,” commented Sikunyana.
In another legal compliance programme, she has conducted training in places as far-flung as Kuruman in the Northern Cape and Polokwane in Limpopo as well as various destinations in Gauteng and Mpumalanga in October and November. Over 500 SMEs have benefitted from the training during the course of 2018 thanks to a number of partnerships.
“I enjoy conducting this training to share my knowledge and experience,” concluded Sikunyana.
